Asset Information

Description:

From a young child wondering if he will lose all his hair just like Mommy, to a teenager experiencing a dramatic personality change after his father is diagnosed, it is clear that cancer affects not just the patient, but all family members as well.
The Burger King Cancer Caring Center has long recognized the need to address the effect cancer has on all family members. Under the direction of Hilda Schorr-Ribera Ph.D, a board certified medical psychotherapist and licensed psychologist, we offer age-specific (ages 2 to 5, 6 to 10, 11 to 13, 14 to 16) support groups for children who have a family member with cancer.

We also offer age-specific Bereavement groups for children to help them cope with the stress and trauma from the loss of a significant family member.

All sessions are free and held at the Burger King Cancer Caring Center which is located in the heart of Bloomfield. Please call 622-1212 for scheduling information.

Groups for children who have a family member with cancer and Short Term Bereavement groups for children are projects of the Cancer Caring Center.
